Since you've found your way to the About page, let me properly introduce myself.

My name is James Fike, though most people call me Jim. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. By day, I work as a telecommunications technician, spending much of my time surrounded by fluorescent lights, equipment racks, and the steady hum of technology.

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me spending time with family and friends, enjoying adventures with my dog, or exploring new places with a camera in hand.

Photography has fascinated me for many years, but over time it has grown into a true passion. My photography focuses primarily on fine art interpretations of landscapes, cityscapes, wildlife, travel, and pet portraiture. I enjoy the challenge of finding compelling images in both extraordinary destinations and everyday moments. Whether I'm photographing a dramatic landscape, urban architecture, wildlife, or a quiet detail that might otherwise go unnoticed, I'm always searching for a unique perspective.

One of the greatest gifts photography has given me is a new way of seeing the world. It has taught me to pay attention to light, color, texture, shadow, and the subtle details that often pass unnoticed. Photography has also fueled my passion for travel and exploration, creating opportunities to visit remarkable places and connect with people who share a love of creativity and visual storytelling.

As Ansel Adams famously said:

"A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words."

I believe there is truth in that sentiment, which is why the photographs themselves remain the focus of this website. At the same time, photography has inspired me to explore writing as another creative outlet. Through my Journal, I occasionally share stories from my travels, local adventures, photographic experiences, and thoughts on technique, editing, and the creative process.

A Peek Through My Lens is simply my way of sharing the world as I see it. My hope is that these images inspire curiosity, encourage exploration, and perhaps remind others to slow down and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us every day.
