Ketchikan, Alaska

My next adventure starts in a little over 35hrs. I will be leaving for Seattle for a couple of nights before heading off to several destinations in Alaska on a cruise. Other than Alaska being one of my favorite destinations one of the highlights for me on this trip will be a visit to Katmai National Park and Brooks Falls. Other destinations will be Ketchikan, Skagway, Sitka, Anchorage, Homer, Kodiak, Juneau, and Victoria British Columbia. Before heading home I am going to head out to Mount Rainier National Park which will be yet another new place for me. I’m looking forward to getting out and taking a few good hikes while I’m there.

Along with many of my normal style of images I am going to try and step out of the box a little at least for me. I plan on shooting a little more with an effort to capture a little more of the experience of the places I visit. I will make every effort to keep everyone up to date throughout the trip along with posting new images as I travel over the next three weeks.

I’m still working on my shot lists and shoot ideas for this trip so please you have been to any of these great places and have some tips for me please I would love to hear them.

Tenaya Lake from Olmsted Point

I am soon to embark on a short 4 day trip with a few friends whom are all also photographers. Should be an interesting trip, with landscapes, granite cliffs, waterfalls, wildlife and lets hope some snow. Yosemite can be so incredible in the dead of winter with the changing weather and the natural lighting effects on the granite walls. The weather reports make it look like it should be fun weekend. Forecasts predict a 40% chance of rain and temperatures ranging from the mid 30′s to the high 40′s. I would prefer a little snow over the the rain and only for only a small part of the day of course. Yosemite is always fun to shoot as a storm is breaking up.

I will try and post pictures as soon as I can, I know in the past that I have had very spotty cell coverage in Yosemite so I don’t know if the first picture will go up during the trip or when I get home. I am sure I will be anxious to get pictures edited and posted.

With this trip I am hoping to try a few new things and get a few new looks to my images. I look forward to sharing the images and details of the trip with all of you here in the near future.

So my truck is loaded up with the ice chest, chains, flashlights, water, inverter, and other essentials. My batteries are charged and the camera cleaned all I have left to do is finish some laundry and pack my clothes.  Wishing everyone a fun and safe weekend.

I spent this last weekend in El Paso, Texas and White Sands National Monument in New Mexico with the Bay Area Glamour & Artistic Photography Group. With five photographers and two models. We spent two days shooting at both White Sands National Monument and at an old vacant restaurant and hotel.  Above: Is the group shooting Kimberly Marvel.

2lbs Porterhouse Steak

Hmmmmm, dinner! A delicous dinner. On on last night we stopped by Cattleman’s Ranch Steak House in El Paso Texas. Cattleman’s Ranch has featured on both the Travel Channel and Food network a couple of times. Texas. Where I just had to order the 2lbs Porterhouse and every ounce of it was great.
